What we collect, and why
| What | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, and a name or @handle if you give one | Your account and signing in; showing you to people you travel with | Contract (providing the site to you) |
| Your vans, the trip you're planning, your home town (to plan the drive), saved trips | Planning your journey and showing places that fit your van | Contract |
| The people you travel with (names, age group, ski level, likes) | Suggesting resorts and places that suit your group. You choose what to add; for children, you add them as their parent or carer | Contract; for children's details, your choice to share them |
| Your tastes and interests | Pointing out places you'll like | Contract |
| Your location, only while a convoy or shared trip is running and you've turned sharing on | Showing your convoy where everyone is | Consent (you can turn it off at any time) |
| Convoy messages, photos and posts, reviews and reports, beta feedback | Running convoys and the trip diary; improving our information | Contract; legitimate interest in accurate information |
| Buttons you press (book, call, website), pages reached from shared links, and basic server logs | Counting what's useful, paying for referrals, keeping the site secure | Legitimate interest |
| Marketing choices you make | Sending only what you asked for | Consent |
| For businesses: the name, role, email and phone you give us; documents you upload to prove a business is yours | Managing your listing; checking you're entitled to | Contract; legitimate interest in preventing false claims |
| For businesses we haven't heard from: the contact email and phone the business publishes itself | Inviting the business to check and claim its free listing | Legitimate interest (see "Businesses" below) |
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use advertising trackers.
Who we share it with
- People you choose to travel with: members of a convoy see your @handle, van and (if you share it) your location and posts. People following your shared trip see what you share with them.
- Businesses, only when you act: for example a members' deal code is shown to the business when you use it.
- Services that work for us, under contract and only for that work: our email delivery provider (to send you sign-in links and messages) and, if paid membership starts, Stripe (payments; we never see your card). The site, its database and its maps run on our own servers.
- Research services (AI models with web search) read public information about places and businesses for us. We don't send them your personal information.
- Anyone we must by law.
How long we keep it
Your account and what's in it stay until you delete them (Profile → delete). Deleting removes them from the site straight away; copies in our backups disappear as those backups are replaced. Live locations are kept for the trip diary and deleted with the convoy. Server logs are kept for a limited time, normally no more than 90 days. Business contact details we found published are deleted if the business asks us not to contact it, except a note that it asked (so we don't contact it again).
Your rights
You can see, correct, export and delete your information yourself from your profile, or ask us. You can also object to our use of it, ask us to restrict it, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or, in the EU, your local data protection authority. We'll answer within a month.
Businesses
We list businesses that serve motorhome and campervan travellers at ski resorts, using information they publish. To invite a business to check and claim its free listing, we may email the address it publishes for enquiries, once, with at most one reminder. Every email says who we are and has a one-click link to stop us contacting the business again. We don't email sole traders or partnerships this way without their consent.
Cookies
See our cookie notice: we only use cookies the site needs to work.
International transfers
Where a provider processes information outside the UK, we use the protections the law requires (such as the UK's adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses).
Changes
We'll post any changes here with their date, and email members about anything important.
